Preliminary squad of the national team for the UEFA EURO 2024
Nagelsmann uses the spring before the EURO 2024 for refreshment.
Before the European Championship 2024 in Germany, national coach Julian Nagelsmann has nominated his preliminary squad. The 26-man squad includes a number of new faces, as well as some experienced players who will be looking to make their mark on the tournament. The tournament will be played from June 14th to July 14th, 2024, in ten German cities. The final squad of 23 players will be announced on May 19th, 2024.
The following players have been included in the preliminary squad:
- Goalkeepers: Manuel Neuer, Marc-André ter Stegen, Kevin Trapp
- Defenders: Thilo Kehrer, Lukas Klostermann, Antonio Rüdiger, Nico Schlotterbeck, David Raum, Christian Günter, Armel Bella Kotchap
- Midfielders: Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Ilkay Gündogan, Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz, Julian Brandt, Florian Wirtz
- Forwards: Timo Werner, Leroy Sané, Serge Gnabry, Thomas Müller, Youssoufa Moukoko, Karim Adeyemi
Nagelsmann said that he was pleased with the progress that the team has made in recent months. "We have a lot of young players who are hungry to prove themselves," he said. "I am confident that we can have a successful tournament."
Germany will be one of the favorites to win the tournament. They are the reigning world champions and have a strong squad. However, they will face stiff competition from the likes of England, France, and Spain.
